Community Guidelines
Last updated: 29 May 2026
These Community Guidelines explain how we expect members to behave on Paranormal Country. They are a plain-language companion to our Terms & Conditions. Breaking the rules below may lead to content removal, feature limits, or account suspension.
Be respectful
Debate theories, locations, and evidence — not people. No bullying, harassment, threats, hate speech, or targeted abuse. Do not share private information about others (addresses, phone numbers, workplace details) without consent.
Online and in person
Paranormal Country is meant to reduce isolation — use the feed and messages to plan, then meet through events when you can. Hybrid and online-only gatherings are welcome for members who cannot travel. Do not use the platform as a substitute for friendship, professional help, or emergency services. Meet in public places, share plans with someone you trust, and never investigate alone in unsafe locations.
Keep it safe and lawful
- Obtain permission before investigating private property; do not encourage trespass.
- Do not promote dangerous rituals, self-harm, or illegal activity.
- Label staged or entertainment content clearly so it is not mistaken for real evidence.
- Report genuine safety risks to local authorities — we are a community, not emergency services.
Authentic paranormal community
Share experiences honestly. Do not deliberately mislead the community with hoaxes, AI-generated “evidence” presented as real field footage, or recycled content passed off as your own investigation without credit.
Sensitive topics
Treat deaths, tragedies, religious sites, and vulnerable locations with care. Avoid sensationalising real-world suffering. Content involving minors is never acceptable in a sexual or exploitative context.
Your posts and audience
Choose the right audience (public, friends, group-only, only me). Remember that screenshots and reshares happen outside our control. Tag and mention others only when relevant and respectful.
Groups, pages, and events
Admins may set extra rules — follow them. Do not spam groups with unrelated promotions. Event hosts are responsible for accurate descriptions; attendees participate at their own risk.
Messaging
Do not use direct or group messages for harassment, scams, or unsolicited bulk promotion. Unwanted contact can be blocked and reported.
Media and uploads
Only upload media you have rights to share. Files may be scanned for malware. Do not upload viruses, illegal material, or non-consensual intimate imagery.
Spam and manipulation
No fake accounts, bought engagement, repetitive link dumps, or misleading redirects. Automated posting or scraping without permission is not allowed.
Intellectual property
Respect copyrights and trademarks. If you believe content infringes your rights, use the process in our Terms or contact us with details.
Marketplace listings
Gear listings are member-to-member. Follow our Marketplace Safety Policy for honest descriptions, fair pricing, and safe meet-ups or shipping.
Reporting and enforcement
Use in-app reporting where available, or email support@paranormalcountry.com. We review reports in good faith but cannot guarantee outcomes. Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent bans.
Investigation ethics
Paranormal Country celebrates field work, but responsible investigation matters. Follow these expectations when sharing locations, evidence, or live updates:
- Permission first: do not enter private property, closed venues, or restricted areas without explicit owner consent. Do not post addresses that encourage trespass or harassment of residents.
- Respect the living: cemeteries, memorials, hospitals, schools, and places of worship deserve quiet dignity. Avoid disruptive noise, equipment damage, or filming people without consent.
- Evidence integrity: describe how audio, video, or photos were captured. Do not edit or splice material in ways that misrepresent what happened, then claim it as raw evidence.
- Safety over spectacle: do not encourage dangerous solo visits, unsafe structures, or rituals that could harm people or property.
- Field reports: use the in-app capture tools honestly. Do not record people without a lawful basis, trespass to gather media, or submit staged sightings as real-time field evidence. Approximate map locations exist to protect privacy — do not use reports to dox or harass others.
- Community tools: case files are for your private research — do not republish saved content to harass others. Regional alerts require location permission; only enable if you accept notifications for your chosen area. Confirmations and annotations must be good-faith; false verification is treated as misinformation. Label posts accurately as evidence, theory, or entertainment.
AI-generated and synthetic media
AI tools can help with thumbnails, summaries, or entertainment — but our community values trust in field work. You must:
- label AI-generated or heavily AI-altered images, audio, and video when posting them, especially if they could be mistaken for real investigation footage;
- not present synthetic “evidence” as proof of paranormal activity without clear disclosure;
- credit original creators when remixing or reposting content you did not capture yourself.
Deliberate hoaxes, deepfakes used to deceive members, or recycled viral clips passed off as your own investigation may be removed and can lead to account restrictions.
Accessibility and inclusion
Help everyone participate: add alt text or short descriptions for important images when the product allows it, avoid flashing effects in profile or post backgrounds without warning, and write clearly for readers using screen readers. Do not mock disabilities, neurodiversity, or religious beliefs. Debate ideas and evidence respectfully.
Admin Assist
Some groups and pages use Admin Assist — automated rules (for example keyword filters or account-age checks) set by administrators. Automated decisions are not perfect; contact the group admin or us if you believe something was wrongfully blocked.
