Paranormal Country — sign-in and security

Strictly necessary — set by us. These are required for the site to work and are placed without consent.

  • sb-*-auth-token (session, refreshed while you stay signed in) - Keeps you signed in to your account
  • pc_turnstile_checkpoint (1 hour) - Records that you passed the anti-bot check so you are not asked again straight away
  • pc_game_signup_bonus (7 days) - Remembers that you played a public game, so bonus XP can be applied if you create an account
  • pc_disclaimer_ack (1 year) - Records that you have seen the content disclaimer, so it is not shown repeatedly

Paranormal Country — your choices and preferences

Functional — stored in your browser’s local storage rather than as cookies, and never sent to advertisers.

  • pc_cookie_consent and the related pc_cookie_* keys (until cleared) - Record whether you accepted or declined optional cookies
  • Display and accessibility preferences (until cleared) - Theme, sidebar state, reduced-motion and text-size choices
  • Unsent drafts and dismissed prompts (until cleared) - Post and field-report drafts you have not submitted, recent searches, and banners you have closed

Cloudflare Turnstile

Strictly necessary — the anti-bot check on our sign-in, contact, and public game forms. We use Turnstile instead of Google reCAPTCHA.

  • No cookies are set by the check itself.Turnstile issues a one-time token that our server verifies with Cloudflare, and we do not enable Cloudflare’s optional cf_clearance pre-clearance cookie
  • __cf_bm (30 minutes) - Cloudflare bot management, set when the Turnstile widget loads

Google Analytics

Statistics — Used for website statistics.

  • _ga (2 years) - Store and count pageviews
  • _ga_* (1 year) - Store and count pageviews

YouTube

Marketing — Used for video display.

  • VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE (6 months) - Provide ad delivery or retargeting
  • YSC / PREF (session / 8 months) - Track interaction and store preferences

Fonts are served from our own servers, so no request is made to Google Fonts and no font provider sees your IP address.

7. Consent

When you visit our website for the first time, we show a banner explaining how we use cookies. If you click “Accept”, you consent to optional cookies and similar technologies described in this policy. If you click “Decline”, we only use cookies that are necessary for the site to work.

To change your choice later, clear this site’s cookies and local storage in your browser settings — the banner will then appear again on your next visit, and you can answer differently. Section 8 explains how to do that. Declining does not limit any part of the site: the only optional cookies we place are the Google Analytics ones described in section 6.

7.1 Browser privacy signals

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar do-not-sell/share signal, we treat that as a request to decline optional marketing cookies where technically possible.

8. Enabling/disabling and deleting cookies
