History & haunting lore

Casa Matusita is a yellow building on Avenida España in central Lima with a reputation as Peru's most haunted house. Multiple legends surround it: a dinner-party massacre by a deranged servant, Satanic rituals on the upper floors, and a journalist who entered for a TV dare and was removed on a stretcher.

Pedestrians and nearby residents report windows glowing yellow when the upper floors are confirmed empty, screams from within the sealed building, and an aversion to walking on its side of the street after dark. The house has resisted long-term commercial tenants, reinforcing its cursed reputation.

Casa Matusita is a private building on a public street in downtown Lima. It is not open to the public. View from the outside only. The area is a busy commercial district — standard Lima safety awareness applies. The building's status and use may change over time.
