Old Jewish Cemetery, Prague
Tilted stones stacked through centuries—visitors go silent, some swearing a whisper followed them to the exit.

History & haunting lore
Prague’s Old Jewish Cemetery in Josefov was used from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries, with tombstones layered because space was scarce, creating its famous crowded topography. It forms part of the Jewish Museum in Prague circuit with synagogues nearby. Rabbi Judah Loew (the Maharal), linked in later legend to the Golem, is buried here.
Atmosphere and Golem folklore generate reported presence and watched feelings. The site is sacred memorial space; thrill behaviour is inappropriate. Haunt talk should yield to mourning and history.
Museum tickets required; paths are narrow and uneven. Photography rules are posted—follow them.
Current site status
Part of the Jewish Museum in Prague ticket network; opening hours and combined tickets published online. Strict respectful conduct—no loud ghost-tour theatrics. Paths are cramped and stepped. Closed on Jewish holidays—verify before travel.
