Point Lookout Lighthouse stands at the southern tip of Maryland where the Potomac meets the Chesapeake Bay. During the Civil War, a massive Union prison camp nearby held Confederate soldiers in terrible conditions. Thousands died of disease and exposure.

Researchers have catalogued over thirty distinct spirits reportedly active at the lighthouse and surrounding grounds. A woman believed to be the lighthouse keeper's wife, Civil War soldiers, and unexplained voices are frequently reported.
