Matrixing

Investigator slang for seeing meaningful shapes in visual noise, similar to pareidolia in photos and video.

Matrixing is commonly discussed when reviewing night-vision stills or low-light frames. Circling a “face” can train others to see it too.

Try describing the image without leading labels first, then compare impressions.
